Creation Story: Queen of Cups
How Inner Whispers Tarot Came to Life
With the Queen of Cups, my mind sifted through many images, meanings, and memories gathered over more than 55 years of reading. Some had left such a deep mark that they seemed to whisper their way into the creation of this card.
I imagined her seated at the water’s edge, holding her chalice with quiet reverence. Her expression needed to show a soul connected to the Universe, emotionally aware, calm, intuitive, and shaped from within.
Again and again, I was drawn back to her cup.
Some of the cards in Inner Whispers Tarot came through dreams, while others arrived as visions, emotions, or symbolic impressions. I often began by capturing the vision in words, almost like writing a story before the image is ever created.
Once the story was written, I created a detailed image prompt with the figures, clothing, colours, environment, symbolism, and emotional tone I could see and feel. At that point, I used AI as my paintbrush, guiding and refining the image until the vision began to take form.
Some cards flowed through quickly. Others, like this one, needed more time to reveal themselves. Much like writing a book, the story had to unfold in its own time.
Creation Story: 5 of Pentacles
With the 5 of Pentacles, I did not see two people walking separately through hardship. I saw a supportive couple leaning into one another, using what little strength they had left to keep moving forward together.
When the vision first came to me, I could almost feel the cold air pushing against me, the sleet hitting my face and body, and the dim light ahead quietly guiding them onward. I wanted future readers to feel that same emotion when they looked at the card.
It became the major symbol of this card. I just couldn’t have it look like the other cups in Inner Whispers. Hers needed to feel larger, more magical, and almost alive, a sacred container for her gifts, kindness, intuition, and endless knowledge.
The other cups in the deck are carved from amethyst but I ensured hers was polished so it held a glow that would pull you in. I provided a lid so it could protect the precious contents While she could still see through it to unspoken treasures within.
Creation Story: Strength
The Moon did not come to me as a card to be designed. It felt as though I was being drawn into it — into memories, dreams, readings, symbols, and quiet impressions gathered over more than 55 years. Each piece seemed to rise from deep water, asking to become part of the path.
I saw the wolf and dog first, standing on opposite shores — one wild, one familiar. Between them, a cloaked figure moved across the water, guided by something unseen rather than something certain.
Creation Story: The Moon
When I first thought of Strength, a multitude of symbols and visions began to gather in my mind. I wondered how one card could hold them all, yet the image unfolded with quiet certainty.
My mind, soul, and spirit guided me to a glowing white spirit bear. He felt ancient and familiar. Resting his great weight on the soft forest floor, he reflects instinct itself—powerful, primal, and reactive when threatened. Yet this card does not ask that wild force to be suppressed.
The towers became guardians of the threshold, and the distant mountains reminded me that even an unclear path still leads somewhere real.
The hidden Sun became one of the most important symbols. At first, the Moon covered too much of it, and the message felt lost. The Sun needed to remain visible, even as a golden rim, a quiet reassurance that the shadow journey is not endless. Dreams, fears, illusion, and deep reflection may surround us, but the light has not vanished. It waits behind the veil, ready to guide us forward.
Instead, it reveals the possibility of harmony between instinct and awareness. The message came through clearly: “Power does not roar to be known.” Rosemary and hawthorn brought gentle awareness, while garnet and Tiger’s Eye offered vital life force, inner strength, and steady confidence. The child, barefoot and trusting, stands in quiet presence. The butterfly hovering between them symbolizes transformation through patience and compassion. The stream and fallen log form a natural threshold between instinct and conscious awareness. Many other symbols remain woven into the scene, waiting to be discovered.
